A quiet Sunday
It is our 6th day in Turku and we are still learning our way around. We decided to go swimming for some much needed exercise and headed to an area called Petrelius. It was a lap pool so not much fun for Sophia, but we did join the parade of water walkers doing slow circles in a lane with special webbed hands. Sophia and I spent a short, hot time in the sauna before meeting Chris to catch the bus back to town. On our way home we stopped by the Puutorin Vessa, a bar that was once the public toilet.
Chris and I visited Kerttu, a restaurant not too far from our apartment, to do our laundry in the basement. Tiny little washing machines, tiny little driers. I already miss my washer at home. Kerttu is a nice spot with large tables, board games and a burger bar. I will be meeting some fellow knitters there next week so I know I will see a lot of Kerttu.

ReplyDeleteThat objet d'art is hanging from the middle of the ceiling in the bar that is a former public washroom. I have no idea what it is.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like two old-timey, gilded toilets to me---so that's not you and Chris modeling up there?
ReplyDeleteGilded toilets! Finland's heyday!
